About this product

Product Information

Our celestial atlases are the standard by which all others have been judged for a half century. Now we've raised the bar with our new Pocket Sky Atlas! There has never been such a wonderfully detailed atlas so handy to take on trips and use at the telescope, thanks to its compact size, convenient spiral-bound design, and easy-to read labels. The 80 charts contain more than 30,000 stars to magnitude 7.6 and some 1,500 deep-sky objects (including 675 galaxies to magnitude 11.5). The best double stars are named, and three dozen red (carbon) stars are marked. The charts show constellation boundaries and stick figures to help you find your way. In the back are close-up charts of the Orion Nebula region, Pleiades, Virgo Galaxy Cluster, and Large Magellanic Cloud.

A great help for someone wanting to look for stars and planets

My husband loved this book. He is looking forward to using it with his telescope.

  • Indispensable Reference Work

Buyer beware is the usual guidance these days. Products just don't often seem to live up to advertising promises which feed our expectations. With this Sky Atlas however, just the opposite is true. It actually exceeded my expectations and has become one of just a few tools I rely on almost every time I set up my scope. As a relative newcomer to amateur astronomy, I have an incredible amount to learn and this book is extraordinarily useful not only for its complete listing of astronomical objects but also for its clear organization of the material presented. Finally, its construction makes it relatively impervious to the elements and so it can be carried with confidence whenever conditions permit viewing the sky. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in stargazing no matter what ...

  • Great information, not the best paper quality.

I like the atlas. It is made for easy use and overlapping is great if there are parts that you are interested in but hard to see. It is made like a binder which allows it to be folded for easy use. That said it does not look to be very durable and I am afraid it is not going to last if in constant use. The pages look to be made from thin cardboard? The rings that it folds on are weak as my arrived already bent and I had hard time folding it, it was somewhat frustrating. Other than this problem I would say it is a great product that is worth the money.

  • Must have for amateur astronomers!

This is an exceptional book for the money. Well-desiged star map, good for every latitude and every season. The paper is of good quality and relatively dew resistant. The book is spiral bound so that the charts open flat, making them easy to view. I highly recommend this book as an excellent starting point that will get you where you are going in the night skies!

  • The sky is an open book with this Pocket Sky Atlas,

This Sky Map is the best and easiest to use of any that I have tried!
