About this product

Product Information

In this dramatic re-reading of postmodernism, Phil Harper contends that the fragmentation considered to be characteristic of the postmodern age can in fact be traced to the status of marginalized writers of the thirties to fifties: West, Nin, Barnes, Allison, Brooks. Disempowered by circumstances of gender, race, and sexual orientation, these writers (Harper argues) display a postmodern sensibility that is specifically rooted in their status in society.

"Framing the Margins is an unusually lucid book of scholarship, understated but arresting. Any reader of contemporary literature will be challenged by Harper's ideas, and all parties involved in the 'culture wars' should heed his voice."--Harvard Review, "Framing the Margins is an unusually lucid book of scholarship, understated but arresting. I took a chance on this comic book. The description just said “book”. They didn’t use a real picture of the book either. But still I purchased it. Book came in today in a flimsy package with no cardboard backing nor was it in a sealed bag. This book came from a library and still has the library stickers on it and has been stamped inside by the library itself.
