    Nice Tape recorder but watch out for the gooey mess that might be inside.

    The Teac X-10 and other Teac machines with dual capstan drives that are over 35 years old came with a capstan drive belt that over time will turn into a gooey tar like mess that will need to be replaced. Replacing the belts also includes delousing the dual capstan flywheel mechanisms that has remnants of the gooey belts all over them. A really dirty nasty job. You will see listings for Teac Reel to Reel Dual Capstan tape recorders that power up and the forward and reverse motors will move the reels. But play does not work or has not been tested. If you come across listing with no tape movement that means the gooey mess will need to be fixed when you get the machine. Then you can replace the Capstan belt. Some of these machines can have a very nasty problem where the moving tape ...

    Cheep, cheep and no replacment for a good A 6300

    I repair decks as a hobby, this one won nothing with me. DC motors and string on the tension arms, huh. My A 6300 is a much better deck! The deck was sold as working, it didn't.
