This tool is really amazing! It speeds up the time 5 times faster than using a spoon.
I would help my wife mix the masa but refused to help speading because i just couldn't get the hang of it with a spoon. Now with this new tool, I do all the spreading of the masa. My wife is extreamly happy that I'm helping. It is really agreat tool. I have now bought a total of three.

Good idea but....
The idea behind the product is a good one, but as for me, you need to get the masa just so, and your technique down. After using the product for a bit I was able to do an average job with spreading the masa, Other folks in my tamale group used a tortilla press with pretty good results too. I have to say, it is easier than using a spoon. I gave it an OK rating because I found the same product at HEB, in San Antonio, about half price of what I paid on Ebay.The idea behind the product is a good one, but as for me, you need to get the masa just so, and your technique down. Product was sturdy - did what advertised - no directions how to complete tamale after masa on husk.
I waited until I had time to make tamales to write this review. I watched the video online about how to use it and it looked easy. Problem is the video didn't go far enough. Yes it spread the Masa on the corn husk BUT there was no instruction about how to finish the tamale by adding the filling and wrapping it for steaming. So-o-o-o here's what happened, the first hour was spent adapting to the tool and the spreading of Masa. I used it, put filling in on the masa and rolled the husk, turned up the ends and steamed them. Result was a tamale that unwound like a roll of paper towel exposing the filling. Then the cooked masa had to be removed from the husk with a knife or fork to the plate then mixed with the filling for eating. The tamales I made were really tasty but not the ...
