Mouton's Charge at the Battle of Mansfield is an excellent writing that gives some of the lesser know facts of this very desperate assault. After retreating hundreds of miles before a much greater Union Army Confederate General Richard Taylor gives General Mouton's Louisiana Infantry the opportunity to strike the blow that would not only stop the advance but turn it into a major retreat. Key individuals on both sides in the Red River Campaign are examined as well as the Campaign itself. Great book to have on this late war invasion of Louisiana.
