Synopsis
Offering the most current and complete introduction to nuclear engineering available, this book contains new information on French, Russian, and Japanese nuclear reactors. All units have been revised to reflect current standards. Includes discussions of new reactor types including the AP600, ABWR, and SBWR as well as an extensive section on non-US design reactors; the nuclear Navy and its impact on the development of nuclear energy; binding energy and such topics as the semi-empirical mass formula and elementary quantum mechanics; and solutions to the diffusion equation and a more general derivation of the point kinetics equation. Topics in reactor safety include a complete discussion of the Chernobyl accident and an updated section on TMI and the use of computer codes in safety analysis. For nuclear engineers., This book is derived from classroom notes which were prepared for three courses offered by the Department of Nuclear Engineering at New York University and the polytechnic Institute of New York. These are a one-year introductory course in nuclear engineering (Chapters 1-8), a one-term course in radiation protection (Chapters 9 and 10), and a one-term course in reactor licensing, safety and the environment (Chapter 11). These courses are offered to juniors and seniors in the Department's undergraduate program and to beginning graduate students who have not had previous training in nuclear engineering.

- e***h (2)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseOverall, this purchase was good. The book arrived on time and quickly, which I was pleased about. The book came in as described, a little better too. The only thing i was uncertain with was the packaging. It arrived with nothing but the standard packaging (the black plastic thing not sure what it’s called 😅). I wish it just had a little bit more extra packaging to ensure its condition. Other than that, amazing service and delivery, great value, quality, and appearance, saved alot of money
- e***n (2258)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseExcellent seller📡, great communication📞, fast delivery 🚚 , extra care in packing for shipment 📦, great price 💰, Came as shown in photo📸, I would do repeat buys in 1 sec with this seller. AAAA ++++. 5 st🌟rs. <(•🪖•)>
- r***y (875)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseAccidentally received someone else's package/order, but the seller was really apologetic about it, issued a prompt full refund, and didn't even make me go through the hassle of printing off a return label, etc., instead telling me to keep the incorrect CDs. So it was disappointing not to get the right thing, but the experience itself wasn't bad and I would buy from this seller again, as it seems to have been an honest mistake.
