I have a mixed O scale layout combining 2 and 3-rail track and found that when I place a code 100 rail down the middle, my 3-rail equipment runs better on this track than one typical 3-rail track systems (and quieter!). Both 2-rail and 3-rail are operating on Atlas code 148 2-rail track and they look awesome. (No tinplate items though - they need to stay with the larger rail tubular and such.)
