I use this as a component in mixing up a batch of pre-solder flux to prevent fire scale by mixing it with boric acid and borax dissolved in alcohol which when slightly heated leaves an anti-oxidant coating on the metal to be torched. Works great and for 1/4 the cost of buying the flux solution from distributors. There are many household products you can compound yourself using pure chemicals like pure sodium carbonate, the active ingredient in OxyClean, for 1/4 the cost of the store product.

transparent - based on adipic acid (more bought for soldering motherboards) yellow classic based on rosin who does not work with these fluxes, I recommend a combo - try and decide which one you like beter
