Synopsis
First it was a media sensation. Then it became the New York Times bestseller and #1 international bestseller A Long Way Home . Now it's Lion , the major motion picture starring Dev Patel, Nicole Kidman, and Rooney Mara--nominated for six Academy Awards! This is the miraculous and triumphant story of Saroo Brierley, a young man who used Google Earth to rediscover his childhood life and home in an incredible journey from India to Australia and back again... At only five years old, Saroo Brierley got lost on a train in India. Unable to read or write or recall the name of his hometown or even his own last name, he survived alone for weeks on the rough streets of Calcutta before ultimately being transferred to an agency and adopted by a couple in Australia. Despite his gratitude, Brierley always wondered about his origins. Eventually, with the advent of Google Earth, he had the opportunity to look for the needle in a haystack he once called home, and pore over satellite images for landmarks he might recognize or mathematical equations that might further narrow down the labyrinthine map of India. One day, after years of searching, he miraculously found what he was looking for and set off to find his family. A Long Way Home is a moving, poignant, and inspirational true story of survival and triumph against incredible odds. It celebrates the importance of never letting go of what drives the human spirit: hope., First it was a media sensation. Mistakenly ordered a paperback that I thought was a hardcover, not sellers fault; it was described properly on the listing. Seller still processed a refund the day I went to return the item and let me keep the item anyway. A+++ service. Book arrived quickly in great condition and for a great price. Thank you so much! Amazing seller!

    A Must Read

After seeing "Lion" several times I just had to read Saroo's story for myself. Autobiographies are true life stories and his is amazing. He has overcome obstacles that most of us would never dream of having to face. The fact that he was able to reunite with his family after such a long and arduous search is a testament to the human spirit. "Lion" should have won a few Oscars as the film was joyful, emotional and tearful. I highly recommend Saroo's story to all!

  • A Long Way Home

This is an absolutely amazing story about courage, hope, love and faith - not only Saroo's, but his birth and adoptive families. Saroo's remarkable recall about the details of his life in India. The book filled in the few gaps not mentioned in the movie, "Lion". Excellent - I read it in one evening!

  • A story of a boy who never forgot where he came from and found his way home.

A story of a little boy who never forgot where he came from and never gave up to find his way home. A real miracle and positive message on determination and courage. This story doesn't leave your heart and you can feel his desperation but following his instincts and his memory are very uplifting for the reader.

  • Inspiring story of a boy who tries to find his way home.

A great and inspiring story. Can't put it down. A five-year-old boy gets lost in India and ends up hundreds of miles away from his home. Eventually adopted by and Australian family, he has a good life but always wonders about his original family.
