About this product

Product Information

Based on the popular computer chess program, The Chessmaster 3-D for the PlayStation allows players to challenge a friend or one of 12 virtual chess opponents. Each computer-controlled opponent is rated according to ability. There are also six unique chess sets (each with animated pieces) from which to choose, including Alphabet, Celestial, Deco, Mechanical, Modern, and Staunton.<br><br>If you need assistance in deciding which pieces to move in order to secure a checkmate, the ChessMaster is available to lend a helping hand. You can perfect your chess playing skills using various teaching options; you can even view the computer's thought process as it "thinks" through each move.<br><br>While this is obviously a 3D title, you can switch the camera angle for a more traditional two-dimensional perspective. The camera is adjustable in that you're able to zoom it in and out until you find a view that is to your liking. You can even switch playing sides (from black to white pieces or vise versa) or simply have a quick look at the other side of the board.<br><br>If you want to see which pieces have been captured, you can view them in the War Room. The Chessmaster 3-D also features various time controls (five seconds per move, 40 moves in 120 minutes), replays, take back options, and auto play (which lets the game play itself).

    Master Strength Training at a Modest price

    If all you want is to play a respectable game of chess at club level with a rating of 1700 or 1800, then this ChessMaster CD for PlayStations 1,2,and 3 is an excellent inexpensive investment.Why use a sledge hammer to kill a fly? It would be a waste of money for anyone not playing chess professionally to buy a Fritz 10 DVD with a 2800 rating, which requires: (minimum requirements) Pentium 300 MHz, 64 MB RAM, Windows Vista or XP (SP2), DVD ROM drive, Windows Media Player9, all for at least $1000. With Playstation CD you can get a Playstation 2 at Radioshack for $125 or Playstation 3 at Best Buys for $400 (finally).

    chessmaster 3D

    I have been a chess player for over 15 years and I just recently started back a few years ago with a 2 year break in between, when I purcahsed the chessmaster 3D game I was thrilled and delighted to have it. At first I questioned my self if to buy or not due to the lack of time that I have, but I question myself again saying that if I don't buy it now then when would I get it. I thank ebay for becoming the middle man for me to even purchase an old classic game, especially when playstation one games are not even in stores, so once again thanks for your support!!!

    very crummy chessboard screen..3-D?!...MUCH BETTER PS chess game's exist

    Hope I can use the 2 Dimensional "War-Room" to play this turkey because the "3-D" board is a bad joke..doesn't allow rotation or tilt..were these people just out to turn a fast buck??
