  • A below average read. Nothing special at all.

The book cover reads "CHELSEA CAIN MADE HER THRILLER DEBUT WITH HEARTSICK; introducing two of the most compelling characters in decades: Gretchen Lowell and Archie Sheridan." I must disagree with the statement. Archie was somewhat interesting, but I didn't find him to be "compelling", rather, I found him to be a little boring at times. What seemed to be an attempt at making the "hero" mysterious just left him as somewhat milquetoast overall. Gretchen Lowell, the villain, was less "compelling" still. Her supposed wisdom and sick mind played out like a weak attempt at a female Hannibal Lecter; she was not intimidating (though the attempt was made) nor was she scary. She was a criminal who had been caught and little more. The most interesting (and that isn't saying much) character was the ...

  • Fa-Fa-Fa-Fava Beans?????

Oh Hannibal! Have you been out-nastied by Gretchen? This is quite the thriller, and quite a departure from what you normally find in this genre. I liked it, almost as much as Silence of the Lambs, but not quite. The triumvirate of the detective, the reporter and the captured serial murderer certainly conjures comparison with Hannibal, but Ms. Cain takes the relationship into a whole new dimension. That part of the book was great. I wasn't overwhelmingly thrilled with the ending, but all told, this was a really good read that I recommend. Have fun!

  • Makes My Heart Sick

I was disappointed with this book. It was all hyped up to be the next "Silence of the Lambs" and instead, I'm embarrassed that people even compare them! The characters are weak and the storyline is confusing. It's hard to see the tie in with Gretchen and the others until the very end. Even then, it's not a sure thing. The descriptions of what occurred are very graphic and for those who like that kind of stuff, this will be the highlight of the book for you. Personally, I could have done without all the vulgar language too. Had there not been so much, I might could have given this book a higher rating.

  • Heartsick by Chelsea Cain

I thought the book was great. I had never read this author before. They are very graphic, alot of details about crime scenes. The second book if Sweet Heart and it is even better than the first. I couldn't put it down. I would suggest this to anyone who like crime and suspense books. I will read other books by Chesea Cain now!

  • Don't know about the book, but buying on eBay is too easy!

Easiest purchase!! Less expensive and more convenient than going to a new or used bookstore! Use Goodreads for book reviews and more.
