SKY BLUE SKY is as eloquently straightforward as Wilco's last studio recording, the Grammy-winning a GHOST IS BORN, was daringly experimental. Tweedy's lyrics deal forthrightly with romantic separation and reconciliation, their bittersweet quality giving way, as the album progresses, to a more uplifting, redemptive mood. Tweedy quite literally banishes the darkness on the penultimate track, the inspiring, gospel-tinged "What Light" - the album's first single - and concludes with a deeply affecting, till-death-do-us-part lullaby, "On and on and On".

I purchased a CD and the version that arrived was not the same version that was listed, with different tracks, etc - BUT - when I pointed this out to the seller, they refunded me extremely promptly and were apologetic, advising they didn't have the version I was after. So although they didn't have the item the service experience was still excellent, with the seller showing great integrity. I was very appreciative of it.

Seller made offer to purchase at a reduced price which was appreciated! However, 2 weeks from when the CD was marked as shipped to when it was received (going from Ontario to Florida) is a bit excessive. I guess the Canadian Post is much worse than USPS? Also, the CD was described as - Condition: Very Good, CLEAN WITH NO DAMAGE wasn't really spot-on. There are a number of light scratches and marks on the CD. Overall, I guess I'm pleased with my purchase - price for value received. Thanks!

    Good intro

    If you are going to turn someone on to Wilco, this is a great choice. I have never missed setting the hook with this album. I have all of the Wilco albums and it’s cerainly one of my favs.

    Wilco - Sky Blue Sky - Music We Like ! ! !

    This Chicago outfit has covered much ground on their first 5 albums, from A.M. and Being There’s rootsy country-rock, to Summerteeth’s Big-Starry power pop, to the wild and strange Radiohead-Americana experimentalism of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and A Ghost Is Born. With new member Nels Cline on freaky guitar, the band went into the studio to compose and emerged with Sky Blue Sky, which turned out to be… a gentle return to their warm, rootsy side. The songs are simple and harmony-laden, the lyrics are sweet and wondering and the instrumental firepower is mostly kept in check. There’s a bit of Wings and Nilsson-style soft-rock at times, but mostly this recalls the finer moments of the oft-maligned Grateful Dead, another band capable of psychedelic freakouts and prog-jazz soloing that often ...

    Like Guitar Solos?

    I read a lot of reviews of this album before I bought it and am happy to say that they all missed the point. This is not a return to roots, it is a highly musical expansion of Jeff Tweedy's musical vision. It reminds me of Steely Dan with its emphasis on flawlessly executed, musically literate guitar solos (some tracks remind me of "Abbey Road"). At first, I was taken aback by this--after all, didn't Jeff say in the "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart" documentary that he didn't see the point of the two guitar thing. But here comes another almost too perfect guitar line in song after song. This is an ambitious album that succeeds because it dares to be intelligent both musically and lyrically, not "experimental".     great driving music, one of my favorite albums!

    GREAT driving music.. I bought this on a auction ending quickly and later realized it didn't have my favorite songs on it. I put it on anyways and fell in love with the songs! I like Either Way, Please Be Patient With Me, Sky Blue Sky, and Shake It Off. Now I'm a Wilco fan & I hear their concerts are fantastic, would love to go to one. Buy this CD, you won't be dissapointed!!

    Most Excellent CD!! Wilco Sky Blue Sky

    I decided to buy this cd because of the radio play track 1 has been receiving. This is an EXCELLENT compilation of Wilco's great talent -- all new music. Wilco proves to be a consistent group with fabulous music and lyrics.
