I purchased a CD and the version that arrived was not the same version that was listed, with different tracks, etc - BUT - when I pointed this out to the seller, they refunded me extremely promptly and were apologetic, advising they didn't have the version I was after. So although they didn't have the item the service experience was still excellent, with the seller showing great integrity. I was very appreciative of it.

Seller made offer to purchase at a reduced price which was appreciated! However, 2 weeks from when the CD was marked as shipped to when it was received (going from Ontario to Florida) is a bit excessive. I guess the Canadian Post is much worse than USPS? Also, the CD was described as - Condition: Very Good, CLEAN WITH NO DAMAGE wasn't really spot-on. There are a number of light scratches and marks on the CD. Overall, I guess I'm pleased with my purchase - price for value received. Thanks!

  • More like Bee Hive...But will sting you nonetheless

Being a fan of The Magnetic Fields has given me a healthy appreciation for the musical and lyrical stylings of Stephin Merritt, which led me naturally to The 6ths, but this album is as rare as hen’s teeth…at least where I come from…which makes perfect sense, because this is a record which could never have had any vast commercial appeal. After all, Merritt’s main brainchild, The Magnetic Fields, are still virtually unheard of in most circles, which doesn’t bode well for this intermittent side-project that has so far spawned two albums, the other being Hyacinths and Thistles (1999). For this record Merritt assembled a hoard of key players from the nineties indie-rock scene to sing songs that he had written, fashioning a sort of illegitimate tribute album to himself, but if that’s what it is, ...

  • I waited for years...

Before getting this cd. While it was a let down, it's still good and there are highlights. If you're a die-hard stephin merritt fan you may not even appreciate this one as much because the lyrics aren't up to his usual standards and he only sings one song. He's not featured on the second 6ths album at all, but the vocalists and songs are so amazing that you don't notice. Make sure you know and love some of the artists on this album before buying it (i.e. the tall dwarfs dean warham from luna, galaxy 500 are some of mine) It says to avoid putting my myspace page up (http://www.myspace.com/thejaysharpexperience) so I won't. But I wish I could because there's some really good music posted...

  • Wasps' Nests is some mighty fine listenin'

Great tracks each with a different vocalist upon a bed of thick electronic three or so chord songs. The material is structurally simple with lots of sonic layers and elegant melodies. Lyrical content is largely the usual wry Merritt fare. Standout singers are Anna Domino, Georgia Hubley, Barbara Manning and Mitch Easter. The album is a great sampler to hear singers one may haven't been exposed to before.
