About this product

Product Information

Following the franchise's legendary return to success under the direction of Crystal Dynamics, Underworld, the studio's sophomore production with Lara Croft, aims to maintain the high level of solid, free-flowing action that reinvigorated the series, while bringing back more of the spooky exploration and challenging jumping puzzles that helped define the classic Tomb Raider games of the late '90s.

Developers strove to create a smooth-moving, contextually integrated character. Motion-capture technology is used for the first time in the series, with the 3D recordings of a world-class gymnast bringing Lara's jumps, flips, and kicks to life. In all, Lara's movement throughout the game incorporates over 2,000 animations.

It takes a god's weapon to kill a god. Lara is set on a quest to obtain the power of Mjöllnir, the hammer of the invincible Thor. Lara's acrobatics and cunning are pushed to their limits in elaborate, sprawling platform puzzles set among ancient tombs and ruins in the jungles of Mexico, the coast of Thailand, beneath the frigid arctic seas, and in other forbidden places of mystic power around the world.

Why I think you should buy PS2's Tomb Raider: Underworld

I've been a fan of Lara Croft since the very first Tomb Raider game and I am glad to add this game to my PS2 collection. If you're like me, who still has a PS2 and isn't into all that upgraded remastered stuff...but, not to knock all of the upgraded remastered games that are out there, I just don't buy into all that, you know? Anyway, I personally recommend this game to those who is a fan of Tomb Raider and PS2.

  • Tomb Raider..raped of art form

Tomb Raider is a legendary series obviously, and the last two installments for the PS2 wer phenomenal! So being a fan of the series since it first came to light I was ecstatic when I heard TR: Underworld would be coming to PS2! I knew there would be some set backs from porting a next generation game to a last generation console. But I figured if it measured to be anything like Anniversary or Legend, it wouldnt matter. How wrong I was. Tomb Raider Underworld over all is an AMAZING game. But when put out for the PS2 they tore so much of it down. There is NO combat system, the graphic are lagging (almost a step back from Anniversary and Legend), the new 'features' that I was highly anticipating were almost entirly stripped from the PS2 release of the game and Lara's new revamped move set ...

  • Underworld is OK, but not as good as Anniversy

I love the Tomb Raider games. This one isn't quite as good as Anniversy. Of the four I would have to say Anniversy is the best. I went back and played it again after playing Underworld. Graphics of Underworld are not up to par with Anniversy, nor are the character movements - though they did add a wall crawling movement that is rather cool. I haven't finished the game yet, so I cannot tell you if it is satisfying over all.

  • tomb raider underworld

i am a tomb raider nut. the game so far has lived up to what i expected. graphics are great, the new lara is looks better than ever. the swimming controls took a little getting used to, but getting better. glad i bought it, also gald that they did'nt foget the ps2 player. wish other game companys would bring out the new games on the ps2 format! let you know more when i finish the game...

  • Tomb Raider: Underworld Review

Visual quality was excellent but game was glitching in areas, causing you not to be able to see where you were standing or going. More running and raiding less fighting than other TR versions but not in a good way. Boss fights were WAY easy including the final battle which there was no fighting just running and climbing away from attacker. Jumping was the hardest part of the game due to the way the camera angle panned prior to jumps making character jump in a different direction than user intended. This was the case in TR Legend to some extent. Overall game was a disappoint for franchise player like myself. I give it a 6 out of 10.
