    Simple to use large screen

    Drains my new car battery....so have to keep it unplugged. Is it another Ford Escape issue or another Tom Tom issue??? Both past items are also new this year. Same occurred with my older vehicle and Tom Tom

    Best traffic

    This is my second one-first was stolen(lock your glove compartment), so I've had about a year of experience with this model. Previously I had G-----. Tom Tom traffic is much more timely, changes route seamlessly, and doesn't do the annoying "recalculating" routine. It accesses the internet through your smart phone data plan. Uses about 400 mb/hour. I think it pools traffic info from users currently online to supplement public cameras, etc. It is voice actuated if you choose. Lifetime traffic and red light cameras. I have no idea if it is usable for hiking, etc. It will drain phone battery, so both phone and device should be plugged into car, using a usb splitter.

    TomTom Go 500

    I love this GPS. It is a great improvement over the older XXL models. The feature that I like the most is the ability to quickly remove it from the charging base so that it can be locked in the trunk or taken with me. The information bar on the right is also a nice improvement, showing upcoming gas stations, rest stops, traffic etc..etc. The pinch and zoom feature makes it easy to zoom in on a particular area. I recommend this to anyone who wants to upgrade from the older models.

    locks up

    The good , The idea The bad , It locks up, It gets lost, hummm how can a GPS get lost? it gets stuck in a quandary, and keeps sending you in a circle. Sent it back to TomTom .
