Take the role of a mighty wizard and ally yourself with one of the land's five rival deities in Sacrifice. Sovereign rule over the mystical landscape is disputed by Persephone (Goddess of Life), Charnel (God of Death), Pyro (God of Fire), Stratos (God of Air), and James (God of Earth). Each god offers the wizard special power in accordance with his or her sphere of influence. <br><br>The player's mercenary wizard must choose one of these five to aid and support against the advances of the others. This decision is not ultimately binding, however, and a dissatisfied wizard may choose to change alliances in the middle of the campaign. Players use magic and summoned minions to attack enemies and protect the sacred altar of the wizard's chosen deity. <br><br>There are distinct role-playing elements to this real-time combat game, as wizards will gain experience and become more powerful as the game goes on. The only real resources to manage in Sacrifice are the souls of fallen enemies. These are "collected" and their power is used to cast spells that create more warriors, lackeys, and grunts.<br><br>Sacrifice is a real-time strategy game with an intimate feel. The action is viewed from a third-person perspective and the camera angle is completely adjustable. The game features detailed characters and lots of action, often with dozens of creatures on the screen at once. The 3D landscape is a dynamic part of gameplay, as lightning scorches the ground where it strikes and large explosions leave craters in the earth. The "scalable" game engine, developed specifically for Sacrifice, was designed to automatically adjust the intensity of the graphics to allow fluid gameplay on any given system.

    Greatest RTS Ever Made. Period.

    I feel like ranting about how great this game is because it really is one of the greatest games ever, but did not achieve blockbuster success. If you are a fan of the fantasy genre and have played this game, I think you will probably agree that no other RTS (real-time strategy) can come close to this game for looks, story, gameplay, and over-all enjoyment, not to mention some really fun multiplayer action with no monthly subscription. What really sets this game apart, I think, is the awesome spells, such as the tornado and the volcano. These spells make you feel like you are really in the middle of a full scale weather environment system under your control. It's just too awesome to describe in words, you have to experience it. The camera control is another great accomplishment in this ...

    Fantastic.

    I purchased this tiem because it's an old game that I loved too much not to own. You basically mass different elements of units that are awarded to you by gods whom you choose to aid in a specific sequence. You could end up with the most worthless units or the most powerful, but there are so many combinations that the games replayability is limitless.

    Sacrifice is an epic game.

    Sacrifice was a game referred to me by a friend and it is great. I love fantasy type games and Sacrifice fits the bill perfectly for myself and other nerdy types. I am not very good at Sacrifice which bodes well for better gamers because my friend that plays it is a stellar gamer and even he says it is a difficult game. Last, it was made in 2000 and it appears to me to be ahead of its time.

    As advertised, no problems, it's a fairly decent game, appears to work good under xp, a good deal for the money, a novel attempt at a game that is different...
