  • Collector's Encyclopedia of Brush-McCoy by Huxford1996

I found this to be in my opinion, an better book than the 2 book set by Sandfords. ONLY bcuz of the lack of catalog pics mixed in with the regular pics in the regular pages. Sorry if Im confuseing. Sandfords has alot of B&W catalog pics that are so small and hard to see. THIS HUXFORD book also has catalog pages, but they are much larger and in color and even have descriptions of some, plus prices. The regular items on regular pages of both Huxford and Sandfords are close enough to the same. Good. I would highly recommend this book to collectors of Brush McCoy Pottery. Also there is a good amount of history in the front pages of the book. The years that certain lines of pottery came out ect. Just for the record. I have both Sandfords books and now this Huxford book. I'd buy another Huxford ...

  • Brush Book Review

The Collector's Encyclopedia of Brush-McCoy Pottery does have a nice introduction with the complete history of the company. Lots of detail is given on the companies presidents, who was running things, ect. It does include price values for many of the pieces Brush-McCoy made. However, I found many of the pictures too small. When your trying to compare pieces in your collection to the book to judge authenticity, it's nice to have big pictures, showing lots of detail to look at. As a starter book for someone just getting into pottery, it may serve you well. At least it will give you a general idea of what your looking for. For the avid collector, this book may be a bit of a let down.

  • A good value for the money-helps bring the piece alive!

In the last couple of years my husband has started the unlikely hobby of collecting Ohio made pottery. A lot of the early pottery is not marked and pictures with detailed commentaries are the only way to truly know if have "the real McCoy" :) This version is detailed with many pictures and stories. The stories help bring the piece to life, in some ways making it more precious to the collector.

  • The Collectors Encyclopedia of Brush McCoy Pottery

This book has many beautiful color photographs, lots of history, and even a few pages of old catalog reprints. It's amazing to see the prices these pieces were going for in the copyright year of 1978, but even more amazing to see what they sold for originally. Written by the Huxfords, I knew it would be concise and accurate, and I was not disappointed. Having already bought and read Huxford's excellent 1980 book, The Collectors Encyclopedia of McCoy Pottery, I knew what to expect. These older books are a plethora of information, and have been invaluable to me in finding and identifying seldom seen pieces. These folks know their McCoy.
