Both Science Fiction movies are very entertaining to watch brings back good memories.
lt's been awhile since l've seen both movies..especially Fantastic Voyage.My Wife has MS and 90% of her memory was wiped out 18 yrs. ago.She sort of rememembers Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea but has never seen the other movie.We enjoyed them both immensely.Thank You.

Dated, but still worthy
Both of these films are from times gone past. What a joy it is to see them without commercial interruption, though! Given the dates that these were actually produced, they contain special effects that were state of the art at that time. A bit cheesy compared to present day, by still worth seeing. And actually, seeing how far the film industry has come in the almost 50 years since these were filmed is worth noting too. Acting is as important now as then, but the direction is much different. If you are a fan of older cinematronics, you'll enjoy them both. If you are a fan of nostalgia, the same can be said. If you like a good story, they fit the bill, too. A lot of current day films do not measure up.Both of these films are from times gone past. What a joy it is to see them without commercial interruption, though! Movies from my younger days!
Fantastic Voyage and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea brought back great childhood memories. I sat in the movie theater as a child and watched with a lot of popcorn and a root beer. Did the same last week. Great movies!

These two movies are bundled together on opposite sides of the same disk. Voyage To The Bottom of the Sea spawned a successful TV series by the same name. Having enjoyed the series, I thought the movie would be even better. Not so. The science behind it was not just lacking, as in the TV show, it was positively Execrable. (The van allen belts caught fire, causing global warming. It just goes downhill from there.) The dialog was boring and wooden. The special effects were on a par with anything they had at the time, which was nothing. Fantastic voyage, on the other hand, was at least interesting. In fact, it had more diving sequences than did VTTBOTS (see above) Of course, the idea itself was insane. The basic plot was to shrink down a submarine to microbe size and put it ... Problem: only one hour to complete, or the submarine returns to regular size. If you fail to extract so much as a paint chip from the patient, its going to cause more damage than the original clot. Still, it was fascinating to watch, and you could tell they put a lot of effort into imagining the trip through the human body. The effects must have been ground breaking for its time. The red corpuscles exchanging oxygen would still be a fine effect even in our current time frame. In short, for both of these films, if you can overlook the incredibly stupid science, they are both great examples of 60's sci-fi, worth watching just to get a feel for those times.
