About this product

Product Information

Mega Man returns to Game Boy Advance in a port of 1998's Rockman & Forte on the Super Famicom, a game originally released for the Japanese market. The title chronicles the unlikely alliance between the Blue Bomber and his former nemesis Bass, a character introduced in Mega Man 7, who finds himself cast aside from Dr. Wily's nefarious plans. In his place Wily has assembled a more powerful robot named King, designed from the ground up to conquer the world. As either Mega Man or the spurned Bass, players begin a quest to put an end to Wily's plans once and for all. Yet before the inevitable confrontation with Wily and King, they must first defeat eight robotic creations in classic Mega Man fashion.

As in previous games in the long-running series, Mega Man & Bass involves advancing through eight themed worlds until the eventual showdown with a boss character. Once defeated, the boss will relinquish its special weapon, which can be used on subsequent enemies. Weapons include the Ice Wall, Wave Burner, Remote Mine, Spread Drill, Lightning Bolt, Tengu Blade, Magic Card, and Copy Vision. Mega Man & Bass also features each character's mechanical sidekick, Rush and Gospel, who can help them throughout the game. To further assist players, screws can be collected on each level and used to purchase helpful power-ups from friendly robot Lightott's item shop. Two distinct endings are also available depending on the character selected.

    Great game, challenging gameplay

One of the harder games in the Mega Man series. Only 2 complaints is the aspect ratio of 3:2 cuts off the top portion of maps, it's really only a factor when fighting one of the last bosses with a very high hit box. The other is the game has two modes, Bass and Mega Man, Mega Man's playthrough feels almost like an afterthought, Mega Man lacks things like double jump and makes the gameplay really challenging. Great game besides those two factors.

  • A challenging game that's perfect for hardcore Mega Man fans.

Mega Man & Bass is a Game Boy Advance remake of a Super Famicon (Japanese Super Nintendo equivalent) game called Rockman & Forte that was only released in Japan. Due to being on the GBA, the game has lower resolution and sound quality. Despite this, it sticks faithfully to it's original game. While it does not add anything to the game, it still is a well-made port of a fun game. Mega Man & Bass is a challenging game, however, and has some of the most irritating boss battles in Mega Man history. The lower resolution does not distort the beautiful graphics in any way, but does give you a smaller screen to work with. As a result, there are sometimes platforms under you that the GBA screen will not show, and enemies may not appear to the player but will still be counted as being on the ...

  • A good game if you can grab it

Mega Man & Bass is a GBA title that goes back to the old school style of Mega Man, specifically side scrolling levels and fighting through a series of robot masters. While sub par compared to the original Mega Man titles, this game is a fun addition to a collection. It is also nice to play as two different characters - Mega Man and Bass - who have different shooting/playing styles as well as different reactions to plot elements. The graphics are pretty nice too, reminiscent of Mega Man 8 on the Playstation One. Pretty good for a hand held game. Overall I give this a 8/10 score. A must have for Mega Man lovers and anyone who likes a good side scrolling platformer.

  • Mega Man and Bass

I have liked mega man since I was a kid, and this game sticks to its roots very well. If it wasnt for the horrible controls scheme and layout of the DS, it would be perfect. I personally liked it better on the SNES. I decided to buy it to relive childhood moments with friends, and reminisce. Another thing I did not like, was that it was rather difficult, even for a rather experienced player -at 17 years og age- I had trouble beating the bosses. Overall, buy the game, even if just for the challenge
