    A Place in the Sun one to add to your film noir collection

    Good to see Montgomery Clift and Elisabeth Taylor together fairly early in their careers. Film based on the book an American Tragedy, So it's got good "genes"! The DVD arrived as promised and is a very good print.

    An Unexpected Dark Gem

    First and foremost, this isn't your typical early 1950s movie. The plot deals with a lot of taboo topics from that era such as sex, unwed pregnancy and one more scandalous one, but without being a spoiler, I can't list it for you :) Overall, the acting was great and seeing Elizabeth Taylor and Shelly Winters in their earlier years is always a bonus. Montgomery Clift also did an excellent job. Overall, I felt the director did an excellent job of building relationships with the characters and keeping you in suspense as you went along. To me, it really depicts the darker side of life in the 1950s; things that went unnoticed. Naturally, for a film of this era, you won't be treated to the gory details of the "taboo" topics; the camera will fade away and you will, ...

    Liz Taylor and Shelly Winters are really good in this movie. I didn't really care for Montgomery Clift's character. I don't really know why Liz liked him so much.
