    Classic CD for Kids

    This is a classic CD that I played in the car for my kids and was happy to find it for my grandaughter. Shel Silverstein is a genius and his voice is magic and infectious.

    Great CD of a Great book

    Growing up, my favourite days in elementary school were Shel Silverstein days. I remember vividly my varous teachers reading the poem, then showing us the pictures. This was an important part of my school life from about 2nd to 4th grade (of course we were to "mature" as 5th graders for that. Now things from my childhood make me happy again, so I have been purchasing Where The Sidewalk Ends books and CD's as christmas gifts for my siblings families, so my nieces and nephews can enjoy them. The CD is very good, and are expertly read, with music added on some, by Shel Silverstein himself. There are only about 40 poems on the CD, and I wish there were more, maybe even all, but as is, it is a very good companion to the book.

    CD NOT BOOK

    I was disappointed to find it was a CD not a book as I had expected. I don't think it was made clear that this was not a book- for the price I guess I can't complain.

    The book, Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein is terrific!

    Where the Sidewalk Ends is a terrific book of poetry! My granddaughter loves it. She keeps on taking out and reading more and more of the poems. I love the poems in it too. I especially love the one about the girl who would not take the garbage out, and the boy who turns into a TV set becuase he watched too much television. They sound like stories my grandmother would tell me when she wanted to get me to do or stop doing something. Some of the poems in this book are very funny as well. Don't forget to look at the Unicorn song on page 76! The kids can read it and then listen to it on youtube.com.
