    When you need a miracle

This movie very engagingly depicts the loving life of a poor Orthodox Jewish man and his dear wife who prepare for the coming Feast of Booths ... needing a few miracles and finding some potholes from their past along the way. Very good movie ...

  • Fun & uplifiting, trip to Israel

Occasionally I add a film to my personal collection. This one is quirky, fun and very positive. Gods blessings to a believing orthodox Jew (Moshe) and his wife provide life and learning beyond their expectations when it spills beyond their hopes & into the situation of a pair of unexpected visitors from Moshe's past. This movie provides a positive tingle. "Ushpizin" is definately not for those who don't expect to enJOY a good film! (Winner of two Israeli film awards.)

  • Great movie!

I first saw Ushpizin at the local Jewish film festival. I bought it in time for Sukkot, which is the setting of the story. I'm not exactly sure why the movie received the PG rating. I think it could be appreciated by people of all ages. You do, however, need a basic understanding of Judaism to appreciate this film. It is a contrast between a childless man and woman trying to fulfill the mitzvot and two "guests" who couldn't be more opposite. Michal Rand's portrayal of the wife is particularly compelling.
