Written and directed by David Mamet, HEIST is a crime thriller that follows aging master thief Joe Moore (Gene Hackman) as he plans one last robbery before literally sailing off into the sunset. What seems like the perfect heist gets complicated, however, when Joe's "business" partner, Bergman (Danny DeVito), insists that his shifty nephew, Jimmy Silk (Sam Rockwell), join the crew--consisting of Joe's young wife, Fran (Rebecca Pidgeon), and longtime associates Bobby Blane (Delroy Lindo) and Don "Pinky" Pincus (Ricky Jay). A tense battle of wits and wills ensues, leading to plenty of twists and turns before the grand finale.HEIST works wonderfully as a fast-paced, slight-of-hand caper flick. By focusing on dialogue over violence, Mamet allows his excellent script and remarkable cast to shine. Hackman (who seems incapable of giving a bad performance) and Lindo are particularly outstanding and carry the film as deftly as their characters plot their crime. Although the one-last-robbery tale has been told hundreds of times before, it's rarely been told better than this.

    Another Mamet Triumph!

    Gritty twisty big con drama that never stops catching you looking the wrong way! Very satisfying performances from the entire cast especially the leads Hackman, Lindo and DeVito, who deliver credible and entertaining performances with Mamet's spot on and witty dialog. Could, would and have watched it over and over and it keeps delivering! Enjoy.

    The great unknown

    With a little twist of fate and thinking ahead, even the bad guy can have a happy ending. An epic burglary forced upon the team...a life or death job, as some of the team will discover. With a stipulation that turns out to be a weasel, who's is putting on a show. The tables are turned, loyalties are lost......But where did the loot go? A story of deceit...

    Teases your mind and leaves it whirling

    The psychology involved in creating the twists and turns, the plots within plots, and the backup plan for the backup plan. These were so mind boggling that you had to stay glued to it or miss something. There is also plenty of action for those aficionados. In my personal rating system , on a scale of 1-10, there is only one 10 (THE SHAW-SHANK REDEMPTION).This film rates a very high 7. Would recommend this film to anyone who enjoys this ( HITCHCOCK style) genre.
