    Glorifies the win without really explaining it

    This is the traditional pro-Israel telling of the 48 war that glorifies their win. My criticism? That war was the Arabs' to loose, and the story of how they did so is, from my viewpoint, far more interesting, and educational, than why the Israeli's won. It's important to learn that no matter how overwhelming a force might be, if it can't get it's act together it will always loose out to a smaller more highly organized foe. However, this movie is not really interested in that story. The film covers most of the historical points, they're there if you know what your looking at, but the uneducated viewer will miss the relevance of most of it. For instance, the movie even mentions the Deir Yassin Massacre,...albeit in passing... a massacre that many ...

    Buy this for Israel's 60th anniversary!

    This DVD is quite good. It explains well the story of the founding of the great state of Israel, the homeland for Jews from all over the world. Israel, even while waging a constant defensive war with its neighbors, remains a paragon of human rights and democracy in Southwest Asia.

    Excellent video!

    This is a wonderful historical account of the birth of Israel. It puts in chronological order all of the events leading up to the UN decision to recognize the state of Israel and then takes you step by step through the fight to assert themselves as a world power. It is also a tale of a determined people to live and die for the belief that God has called them home.
