Worth seeing but not the greatest show on earth.
Use of color enhances this circus movie, especially the opening parade scene with purple, red, and yellow elephants. Family-friendly film with no sex; there are a few offscreen deaths. The scene of a tightrope walker crossing Niagara Falls was probably breath-taking in 1959, but looks very fake today, though the actor does his best to look suitably frightened. The Whirling Circus faces bankruptcy. A rival circus wants to buy them out, and tries to hurry the sale through sabotage. With all the starpower in the cast, this should have been an excellent film. Unfortunately, the many characters are not fully explored, so their motivations are often unclear. Victor Mature, as the circus owner, seems to be trying to play a macho man with a heart of gold, but he comes off as a ruthless chauvinist. ... Great for circus fans.
Good movie that features a circus. Great if you have a fascination with the circus. It had a lot of action and of course the 50's happy endings.

A little disappointed
It wasn't as good as I remembered it. Very little actual circus in it. It had a circus setting, but you see very little of the circus acts it workings. I like the circus movie with Charleton Heston better.
