As online, team-oriented first-person shooters become commonplace, and even single-player games are expected to offer at least some sort of online multiplayer mode, it may be easy to forget that the original Tribes was one of the very first action games to concentrate on online competition and multiplayer teamwork. This third game in the series aims to remind players, however, with it's updated presentation of the core, team-oriented gameplay that earned so many devoted fans of the first two releases. Tribes: Vengeance also reintroduces the futuristic Starsiege setting and story elements of the Tribes universe, through a new, single-player campaign.<br><br>Unprecedented in the series, the single-player campaign acquaints players with the intimate tribulations and far-flung turmoil of the Tribes universe, as they take the roles of three different characters in a story that spans two generations. The adventure explores themes of family and, of course, vengeance, in a way not possible through the online-only competitions of earlier versions. Tribes: Vengeance was developed by Irrational Games, a studio known for blending elements of first-person action and RPG-style story in previous releases, such as System Shock and its sequel.<br><br>In addition to their exclusively online nature, earlier Tribes games were distinguished by another feature: jet packs. As in Starsiege: Tribes and Tribes 2, Vengeance players will zip across sprawling outdoor mission maps using giant, jet-pack-aided leaps, and they'll learn to "ski" down steep mountainsides with speed and efficiency. Also as in earlier games, different armor selections offer different combinations of protection and agility, and not all weapons can be used by all types. For the first time in the Dynamix-created series, this version of Tribes runs on an enhanced version of the Unreal game engine.

    A new Tribes for a new Era

    I bought Tribes: Vengeance for two reasons: one, it was cheap, and two, I love the games in the Tribes Series. This game lives upto its predecessors and so much more. The addition and tweaking of new weapons and graphics make this shooter a must have for any PC adrenaline junkie. The campaign is well put together, albeit a bit confusing, and the multiplayer component is solid.The only think that drags this game down is the lack of people to play against online. However, for the eight bucks I paid for it, you really cant go wrong.

    Good game...If you like capture the flag

    I bought this game because, well, it was 8 dollars. And for 8 dollars, and a good recommendation from a friend, of course i'll buy a game. So i checked it out, and the game is pretty good. Well, good if you like capture the falg if you play multiplayer. No one really plays anything else. So you are stuck with CTF as they call it. It blows, but hey, you have single player if you want to actually kill people and get rewarded for it. The graphics are decent, but for a game that size (It's as big as Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion), you would expect a little more than that. Overall, the game is a great game for how cheap it is, and I would recommend it to anyone who likes first person shooter games...or capture the flag. Either/Or.

    Not like Tribes2, but catches on you after a while

    I first played Tribes 2 when it was released for free as celebration to the release of this game, Tribes 2 became one of my favorite games ever and I thought if they'd release an awesome game like that to celebrate another game that game must be some big hit, but then, here's what I got: The game is nothing like Tribes 2, it's not what I expected at all... The weapons and packs are few, there are only 4 packs while in Tribes 2 there were more than 10 packs... Jetting is tougher than it was in T:2, and you find yourelf out of energy a lot more often... Though the gameplay was a lot more suitable for the Single Player rather than Multiplayer, Singleplayer gameplay I give it a 10/10, but because you play each level from the view of a different character, it kinda gives you the feeling ...

    Badass Game

    This is a badass game. Very cool open levels, cool vehicles, good graphics, cheap as hell. Also you have a jetpack, which makes everything twice as cool. There is one level where you play a little girl, who at the end of the level gets in a flying vehicle and starts lighting enemies up. Very rewarding.

    Tribes vengeance

    Nice graphics . Ok single player .No bots like tribes2.Which is one of the reason I bought tribes vengeance..I am glad I did not buy it when it 1st came out.
