About this product

Product Information

The ML-3 is a close-up flash for use with the EF 50mm f/2.5 Macro Lenses. Guide number is 11/36 (ISO 100 m/ft). The ML-3 contains two flash tubes which can be switched on or off independently for creative control, as well as 2 built-in miniature lamps as a focusing aid. (Recommended for EOS cameras with Aperture-priority AE and manual exposure control.)

    Too Old for modern cameras-get the MR14-EX Clones-adaptor ring very expensive-look elsewhere

    Yes it will work, only in full manual mode. You only get full output and you can go right or left light. So yes it's better than nothing but you have to take a few shots and play with ISO, exposure and f stop first. No TTL no ETTL, no high speed sync above the limit of your sync speed. The inside where the adaptor attaches is about 58mm and you can make your own adaptor ring from a step up/down ring like I did. Took a 58 to 62mm adaptor and filed down the inside one to make it snug. I do get pretty good results but the Chinese knock offs are full ETTL For a few bucks more go with the Youngling or Neewer. The Canon brand Macrolite adaptor ring is very expensive. This is an old unit.

    Attention amatuer photog's

    The ML-3 TTL Macrolite is an older version of Canons ring flashes but it is an excellent choice for the amatuer photog who wishes to experience macro photography without paying premium dollars for the newest and coolest canon has to offer. It is simple to use but does take a bit of practice to get the shots the way you would like.
