Reminds of the car industry. Excellent read for the collector

I would recommend this to anyone who deals with pool cues I have over paid for cues and now I will have a reference to go by. The content is good however it is still a buyer be aware market; Some of my cues are not shown. The price is a little high but it is a good value... I was amazed to learn what quality means to some of the custom cue makers. It does not sometimes show to the novice and that price sometimes does have a direct relationship. And how market prices some times do not correlate.

  • A Great start (or continuation), but flawed in nature..

This is a very informative volume that had to be both, a labor of love, and a very painstaking project. But, by nature of the subject, it becomes obsolete as soon as it is published. New cuemakers, manufacturers, and models are coming out every day. The volume begs for monthly, quarterly, or, at least, semi-annual updates (Maybe certified/varified owners of Volume 3 could get discounted updates?). It is now three years old and I do not see any way, in the volume, to factor that time into the updating of the values of cues. I did find it annoying that a very well known manufacturer of cues, Meucci, had so many missing examples of available, but discontinued cues that are out there in the market (I own two of them myself). Again, it a very good effort, but, Brad - recruit some help to ...

  • Well Done - Only Credible Resource of its Kind

Great book for the billiard cue "aficionado", anyone shopping for a vintage cue or someone who "deals" in collectible cues. I look forward to Brad coming out with the next updated version. I can only imagine how much effort is takes to seek out pristine examples of these artful artifacts for the photography, not to mention finding the data necessary for the market value analysis. - Willie Rackam -

  • Hard to find item.

Hard to find book, pricey but already saved me the price of the book by using it before buying a pool cue!

  • Blue Book of Pool Cues by Brad Simpson (2005)

My hobby as a pool player for 52 years is buying pool cues on Ebay so that I can try them out and either keep them or re-sell them. This book was an immense help in recognizing and determining the value of old cues. I do wish that the cue makers would list even more of their old collectible cues, but I have the last three editions of the Blue Book and I recommend them to any collectors of cues or just those who love pool.
