  • His unauthorised compilation

T.B Sheets is a 9 minute opus to a girl he watched dying from Tuberculosis. It is deeply personal and moving. This song + 4 others ('Brown eyed girl', 'He ain't give you none', 'Rosy' and 'Red sports car') were recorded in his first solo Bertie Berns sessions in New York way back in the summer of 1967. These and other tracks are available on his first solo album 'Blowin' your mind.' The album TB Sheets is a bit of a 'cash-in' by London who owned the rights for those sessions and for those in November '67 during which Bertie Berns died, releasing Van Morrison from his contract. He moved away from London and recorded Astral Weeks. The November sessions make up the rest of this album, so, although it is a bit of a mish mash , its actually, quite a cohesive, introspective collection of songs, ...

  • A brilliant album

One of the most real and heartbreaking songs VAN MORRISON ever wrote and sang, including those on Astral Weeks, is T.B. Sheets. T.B. Sheets is a true story about watching a lover die of tuberculosis, about 10 minutes of anguish, regret, bargaining, pleading, mind numbing circling fragments, foreign bodies, death, with screeching harmonica and throbbing music as a backdrop to a running dialogue. "The sunshine in the crack through the window pane, pain" numbs Van's brain and he pleads "open up the window and let me breathe". If you have ever watched anyone die let alone a loved one you will relate. Van wails, "The cool room is a fool's room and I can almost smell your T.B. Sheets on your sick bed, i gotta go, gotta go". It's a revelation to this song and as real as it gets. Brown Eyed Girl ...

  • The rare title song is A1-Van is one of the best ever!

Being a music lover and an admirer of the artistic genius of Van Morrison, I knew I had to own this one the first time I heard TB Sheets. Never before in my 40 years had I heard this song, and it moved me. I knew what he was talking about and more so, all his feelings come through stunningly clear. If you like any of his work, (so full of variation) yet, through all the few overplayed songs have never heard this one, I think you'll agree that Van Morrison is one of the true, rare artists. His soul is wide open when he creates and performs his music and it comes through in this song as though you were in his life at that moment. Owning this enhances my music library. It's one of those CD's you bring out and say "Hey, did you ever hear this one? It's so cool, you'll love this song."

  • A must Have

One of the best atmosphere albums for that psychedelic blues era. You can feel like your there smelling that T.B. sheets and wine. He finish the album in those words: "Every time I see you I just don't know what to do" and I feel helpless and joy we have Van Morrison in the world with us. Go get it!!

  • Van Morrison: TB Sheets

TB sheets is a collection of early Van Morrison songs. The sound and production on this album are sub par; and in no way does this match up to his work on "Moondance" or "Astral Weeks" which are his finest recordings. However for the true fan of Van Morrison, there is definitely something here for you. Specifically the song "TB Sheets", is a great track full of strong lyrics powerful vocals, and has a great jazz blues feel. Because there are only 8 songs here, this album is great for existing Morrison fans who want to hear the gritty sounds of his beginnings; but new fans of the artist may want to start with some of his later more accomplished work.
