About this product

Product Information

Good things often come in little packages, as young Omri (Hal Scardino) discovers when he receives a present from his friend Patrick, a plastic Indian figure that comes to life after Omri locks him in his toy cupboard. Little Bear (Litefoot), an Iroquois Indian from 1761, opens up new worlds of thought, experience, and tolerance to young Omri. A few disastrous experiments with other toys in the cupboard and Patrick's insistence on receiving his own living toy reveals to Omri that the "toys" have feelings just as he does, no matter how small their stature. Frank Oz (BOWFINGER) directs from a script from Melissa Mathison (E.T.).

    A classic tale!

Item arrived quickly and in excellent condition. The figurines that came with the VHS were in mint condition and were perfect for my son's Indian in the Cupboard school project.

  • Indian in the Cupboard

I bought this for my 4 year old grandson, after viewing it previously from a relative's collection. The story incorporates imagination, multi-cultural aspects, sensitivity, empathy, and other desirable elements looked for in a story for the younger generation. The story bridges not only a time gap, but a cultural gap as well, but on a level that even a youngster can at least partially understand. Bias and prejudice is also introduced and dealt with, with a very desirable outcome. The story line is fairly easy to follow, with good actors and language that would be acceptable for almost any age level. There are a couple of minor swear words that could have been omitted and not bothered the theme of the tale, so one might want to take this into consideration when deciding who to let ...

  • Magic, fantasy and drama! I LOVED IT!!

I saw this movie years ago and loved it. It is one that I would like to see again sometime. The cupboard is magical; everything Omri (the little boy, main character) puts into the cupboard comes to life (his little plastic toys)! Wouldn't every child love to have their own magical cupboard! This movie was made for KIDS (or kids at heart!) Magic, fantasy and drama! There are some lessons to be learned from the movie, which I liked.

  • You know this is an adventure of some kind

This is a great adventure for any childs imagination! The story line and lesson taught is conveyed for a child to grasp clearly. Highly recommended for any age group! I bought for my 5 year old, but found our whole family myself included and 2 year old grandson, 25, 20, 19 & 17 year olds all were captivated by this adventure. My little girl now wants a magic cupboard!

  • Everything is perfect. Thank you.
