Tolkien Millenium Hardcover Boxed Set
An excellent addition to any Tolkien addition. 7 volumes hardback containing all of the pertient information for the Lord of the Rings. This edition takes each of the three parts of the Lord of the Rings and puts them into two books each. The first and second books being "The Ring Sets Out" and "The Ring Goes South" making up what is normally called "Fellowship of the Ring", the thrid and fourth books being "The Treason at Isengard" and "The Ring Goes East" which makes up the "The Two Towers", and the fifth and sixth books being "The War of the Ring" and "The End of the Third Age" which make up the "Return of the King". The seventh book is a complete index. These books contain some stunning artwork ... An excellent addition to any Tolkien addition. 7 volumes hardback containing all of the pertient information for the Lord of the Rings. However, the bindings are glued and not quite up to past standards of Houghton Mifflin with many of the sets having books that are not equal in height. This set was published in 1999 and consists of what many consider to be the most complete and corrected version of the Lord of the Rings from 1988. All in all a great set for any Tolkien colllector. However, if you are more of discerning collector you might want to pass on this set in favor of the Harper Collins set that comes with a audio CD of Tolkien, the 1988 boxed set or ever better still, the tweleve volume complete history of Middle Earth set done in a similar color palette.

Great version of a classic story!
Great product! In good shape, arrived quickly. Great edition of a great novel. Love that this printing of LOTR features alternate book titles (especially War of the Ring). Great looking set visually too.

Awesome Novel!
Read it a bunch, loved it every time! There's a reason this is the Book of the 20th Century! Millenium Edition Lord of the Rings seperated into the original 6 books with appendices. Peter Jackson's movie did very well to bring the imagination of JRR Tolkien to life but there's nothing like using your own imagination while reading his original novel to put yourself into the fantasy!

Another way to enjoy a favorite
I had one of these sets back in the day and gifted it to my sister,(now she says she doesn't have it). I kept waiting for the right set and found this one. It was worth the wait.

An Awesome story in an incredible package!
"The Book of the Century" Millennium Edition of the Lord of the Rings is incredible. This is a collection of all three books in hard cover format. However, for the first time I have ever seen they have split the books up into 6 individual hard covered books. Each book has a letter of Tolkien's name on them and a wonderful rune on the binding. The story themselves are timeless and incredible. Follow Frodo and the fellowship of the ring as they march their way towards Mount Doom. An awesome story and an incredible packaging job!
