    Castle Thunderbird 36 ESC - Excellent product!

    I have been using a variety of CC ESC's for many years. The Thunderbird 36 is an economical and lightweight unit that works per its specifications. Small in size but big in performance. No frills, just solid long term performance. Suitable for a variety of sport planes. Only negative is having to add your own connectors. However, this keeps the price down and lets you provide the correct ones for your specific application.

    Thunderbird controllers are a known quantity and good quality

    Thunderbird controllers are what they are. I have several in the 36 size, one that handles 54 amps and I don't know how many of the 18s, 9s and 6s. Castle sold them as modest priced, but good quality ESCs. They are phasing the line out, so I was happy to find a new 36 for sale on E Bay. The limitation on the Thunderbird line is that they will handle either 2 or 3 cell lipos. The trend in electric RC planes is towards using 4, 5, or 6 cell or more LiPo battery packs. The Thunderbird line of controllers simply can't handle the larger cell number,higher voltage packs. But if you are flying a model that uses 2S of 3S packs, the Thunderbirds will work just fine--and will do so for a long time. I have some that are 7 or 8 years old now and still ticking along.

    Castle Creations produce good products. You can also purchase additional product to plug the ESC to your computer to up-date the software in the ESC.
