Slayer's 2013 South Of Heaven Remaster/Reissue Reigns supreme on Vinyl

South Of Heaven was not well received by the hardcore metal heads back in 1988. They considered it to be a slowdown after they have been jamming to Reign in Blood for the 2 years prior. But as time went on people got it and could see where Slayer was going that slow heavy doom sound was growing on them and that's when you know you have a classic album on your hands. Albums that grow on you stay with you. As far as this 2013 180G vinyl release Remaster/Reissue It's just excellent. IT's crisp and loud worth your hard earned cash for sure. Every sound is captured I swear I heard things I never heard before. Of course when I was a teen I listened to this album probably a million times maybe my memory doesn't serve me well and the sounds I'm hearing were there. Regardless if your a Slayer ...

  • "Follow Up To A Legend."

This album had the unenviable task of following a land mark album, for not only the band but for the whole genre of thrash metal. And to be honest, a 15 year old me at the time of release wasn't expecting such a departure from their previous recordings. But not too long after, the incredible songwriting eventually won me over and again still not my favorite Slayer album (Hell Awaits) but that is not a bad thing.

  • Amongst the 80's slayer albums, which is...

Amongst the 80's slayer albums, which is by far their best material, this one might be their most underrated being lodged between the break neck 100000mph speed of reign in blood thrash attack and the different but equally as epic seasons in the abyss. This album is more mid tempo in comparison but everything is intricate technical and catchy as fvck extremely memorable. Mid tempo yes but not plodding or boring. Riffs are great and dave lombardo is beyond amazing. Love slayer love SOH from LA!!!

  • Slayer - South of Heaven LP

The album that brought Slayer mainstream attention. The slowest and most doom-laden Slayer LP there is. The American Records pressing is very nice sounding from the original masters on black wax. Highly recommended.
