    Small player, big value.

    The iPod Mini is sort of the forgotten iPod, a transitional design between the original form factor and the smaller iPod Nano. It's smaller than the original classic iPods but considerably larger than most of the Nano variants. It sports a monochrome screen, which can be easier to read than a color one. The only real shortcoming of the Mini is its small hard drive, 4GB in this case. Fortunately, this is fairly easy to remedy as the spinning hard drive can be easily and inexpensively replaced with a Compact Flash camera card. The form factor and pinouts are identical, so it's a direct replacement with no adapter needed. If you want a basic, no-frills music player, this could be an excellent choice.
