About this product

Product Information

LOOKING FOR AN ECHO chronicles the way that two old pals living in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, deal with middle age, looking back on their heyday in the 1960s when they were teenage music stars in the popular doo-wop band Vinnie and the Dreamers. Vinnie (Armand Assante), who now goes by Vince, is a well-to-do bartender with a side job playing music at bar mitzvahs with his buddy Vic (Joe Grafisi). While Vince's life revolves around his three kids, the youngest of whom is in the hospital suffering from leukemia, he longs for companionship, having lost his wife years back. After a life-affirming weekend with the Dreamers, Vinnie proposes marriage to his daughter's nurse, Joanne (Diane Venora), with plans for a new start.

  • Great story, memoriable music, well written, well performed!

Engaging story set in 1950's NYC, featuring music of the era via flashbacks of the guys in a doo-wop group, both then & now. Several minutes into the movie, there is a "dissolve" from a photo of the guys standing in front a light-colored car, to a 1950's "Billboard Hot 100 Chart." The movie's fictitious "Vinnie and the Dreamers" is listed in the #1 spot. At #2 is "On The Dark Side" by "Eddie and the Cruisers"...another film on which Kenny Vance was music producer/supervisor! Kenny is also lead singer of the group "The Planotones" in real life!

  • An excellent movie

As soon as the night that I received Looking For An Echo, I watched the movie. I had fallen in love with the trailer for this movie and had been looking for the movie for a long time. From the start of the movie to the end I fell even more in love with this movie. Looking For An Echo is one of those movies that is so well put together that it held my attention all the way through and made me cheer on the characters in the movie.

  • The title says it all

The song Looking For an Echo pretty well sums up the period of Doo-Wop. The words, the melody, spot on. The original soundtrack led me to the movie. Both are great! If you like Doo-Wop as much as I do this movie is a must.

  • If you like listening to oldies, you will like the movie!

Great harmony and good story. My husband really liked it even though it would be classified as a chick-flick!
