i needed an ipad to be able to use certain apps. The good: very good screen, very good battery life (even though refurbished) excellent apps. The not so good is that it is slower than current quad core android devices. Overall it was a very good buy for the price.

Even better now with the Retina display and Verizon 4G!
This is my second iPad (first was iPad 1). Both iPads worked flawlessly out of the box and I quickly replaced my old Toshiba laptop with this device. I use a Perixx bluetooth keyboard when I need to type more than a short email. I purchased the iPad 3 primarily for its Retina display (which allows very small type to be read easily) and the Verizon 4G capability. The data plan was easy to buy through the iPad interface and makes it possible for us to be on line while driving. I'm even using the iPad as a GPS now. Some have complained that the Verizon data plan can't be stopped and started, but that isn't my experience. If you take off the 'auto pay' option, the plan runs out at the end of a month and you can restart it by authorizing another payment at any time. No need to cancel the plan; in fact that seems to be the mistake many are making. The long battery life means I can use the computer all day without a recharge.
Great photo images and lots of apps available but not a serious computer.
I bought this for my wife and she needs to go to a class so that she gets full value out of the tablet. It is very convenient to use anywhere we travel and is easier to pack than the lap top we normally take with us. While it isn't a full computer with limited capability we are enjoying it for what is is capable of providing. Some people think that they can use this rather than their lap top or desk top but it cannot replace those for really intense communications or spreadsheets. It is a very expensive tablet and I can do about as much with my Kindle Fire but it does have a lot of great apps not available on the Kindle. I do wish it had a better battery life but then again it is not intended for full time usage like a plug in computer.
