Jack Benny is always entertaining whether in "The horn blows at midnight" Or to be or not to be but I doubt that has ever been as much of the physical comeduian as he is in this picture, released in 1941. Somehow this film is so entertaining that you forget that it's 75 years old. And it's a class a picture from 20th Century Fox . I would recommend the film to anyone and especially fans of Jack Benny. It's also interesting to see I very young Anne Baxter Almost a decade before "all about Eve".

Jack Benny--Funny Man
Let me note that this 1941 film has been made 6 other times...mostly under different names! It was originally filmed in 1925 with Sydney Chaplin playing Jack Benny's role as an Oxford student who is duped by two of his college friends to pose as an aunt from Brazil in order to chaperone the boys and their dates to parties and dances, etc. The girls are played by Kay Francis and Anne Baxter. The real trouble starts when Benny, in drag, attracts the attention of the ladies' guardian played by Edmund Gwen. Only Benny can pull off some of the jokes in this movie including dressing in drag!
Charley's Aunt
Jack Benny stars in this traditional farce along with Kay Francis and Edmund Gwenn. It's the ridiculous story of an Oxford student, Lord Babberly, pretending to be Charley's aunt so Charley and his cohort, Jack can spend time with the girls they adore. To add to the confusion, Lord Babberly as Charley's aunt, attracts the attention of not one but two admirers! It is full of fun and a great cast throw themselves into it, keeping up the pace until the last frame. Also included in this edition are some great extra features plus the bonus of 4 postcards. A joy.

been waiting for robt.osborne and his west hollywood crew to show this, but apparently there is some kind of idiotic archaic contractual aggrement that keeps TCM from showing this, also archaic but hilarious, film. being born here in hollywood, i feel our output should be shared with all. robt. osborne, you should get up off your lazy, Mae West loving ass and help finalize this precious offering from Mr. Benny to the world.
