  • MY TOP 10 ALL TIME FAV CDS

ow, you can't get much better than this disc. With the stand-out tracks not limited to "So What'cha Want" and "Gratitude", this disc has an over-all feel to it that makes it a disc you listen to from start to finish. A very good moment in the Beastie Boy timeline. I think back fondly on the first time I caught the Beasties live. It was at a Lallapalooza in Columbus Ohio. I believe it was in 1993. The Smashing Pumpkins were also on the bill that night. I was a very green fan of the Beasties then. In my younger days I was pretty much only into classic rock, and looked down on rapping. I thought I was cool because I was going to see the Pumpkins. As I've grown in my musical taste, I have developed a real respect for the Beasties. I next saw them at the ...

  • CLASSIC!!!!

The first three Beastie Boys CDs were solid masterpieces. I can't decide which of the three is the best--LICENSED TO ILL, PAUL'S BOUTIQUE or, this, CHECK YOUR HEAD. Does it really matter? They're all marvels of funk, rock, and hiphop. What set this CD apart were the jazzy sections, played by the boys themselves (with some critical help on keyboards). For more than a decade, this CD has earned a permanent spot on my tray, and has quite easily held its place on my "What ten albums would I want if I were stuck on an island (preferrably Manhattan island)?" list. My personal favorites are "So What'chu Want?", "Pass the Mic" and "Something's Got to Give". One of the shining moments to me, as for several other reviewers, is ...

  • Beastie moves on-

This is not Licensed to Ill. So, if that's all you like about the Beatie Boys, then you might not dig this. But it is a good album showing that they wanted to spread their wings. Tracks include: 1. Jimmy James 2. Funky Boss 3. Pass The Mic 4. Gratitude 5. Lighten Up 6. Finger Lickin' Good 7. So What'cha Want 8. Biz Vs. The Nuge, The 9. Time For Livin' 10. Something's Got To Give 11. Blue Nun, The 12. Stand Together 13. P.O.W. 14. Maestro, The 15. Groove Holmes 16. Live At P.J.'s 17. Mark On The Bus 18. Professor Booty 19. In 3's 20. Namaste

  • Classy Classical

This album is a MUST HAVE in any hip-hop collection. Raw lyrics...dope samples...what are you waiting for!?!? Cop this already, will ya?!
