DALVA by Jim Harrison
A beautifully written story of five generations and their relationships and philosophies as told from the point of view of each...mostly in a journalistic style. Not an easy read, but well worth it. The central character is a strong and well defined woman. If you like wonderfully and largely written vistas; broadminded characters; are interested in learning about the world of nature from post Civil War to the present in the great Midwest, you will surely enjoy this read. Then you will have to read the sequel "The Road Home".
Do yourself a favor
Just read it...fine writing by a word master...when you are finished read the sequel, The Road Home then after that read everything else he wrote...your brain, your heart, your soul and spirit will ALL thank you.
