I asked our local weatherman about what to get to replace a really cheap station I had bough a couple of years ago and he recommended Davis Instruments. I found this as one of the least expensive. Got it and mounted it on a 1 1/4 inch piece of electrical conduit 10 feet long alongside my clothesline post. Got it up and running and I really like the amount of information that the console can provide. The graphing is a really nice feature as well. If you're looking to get into 'weather watching', I think this is a good place to start. It seems better overall than units that I have reviewed that cost half as much but I think you get what you pay for. I like it transmits every 2.5 seconds so that gives your pretty good wind reading. Nice system.

Vantage Vue Review
The outdoor unit is attractive, appears to be well made and is very functional. The indoor console however has some issues. First the good. The button layout is intuitive and easy to use. However the screen is angled at a fixed position which does not necessarily fit everyone's viewing angle. I have had to prop mine up at the back to get the proper angle. The biggest negative for me is the quality of the screen. It's definitely old technology. Daytime back-lighting is mediocre and the night time lighting is an unattractive orange. The arrangement of information on the screen could definitely use a make-over. If this unit had a higher resolution LCD color screen with some user select display options it would definitely be 5 stars.

You get what you pay for!
I have had many weather stations in the past and decided to go the extra mile and try the next step up for a little more money. I was well worth the extra cash. This station is beyond great. I still don know all that it does but goes far beyond the basics. It is really fun to mess with and a great way to pass the time. Easy top initially set up but then the work begins experimenting with all the features. The instructions are easy to follow. I highly recommend this station for anyone who wants to keep their eye on the current or future weather.

Excellent little weather station, well made unit.
This weather station is excellent. It does everything we expected it to do and more, like the cute little message , when it is totally pouring rain, that it gives, "It's raining cats and dogs". and the messages about meteor showers and the phases of the moon. It has performed flawlessly for several years now. Others have commented about having to replace the battery twice a year or whatever, We have replaced the battery one time only, just recently, after five years or so. We like the display, easy to read and easy to use. No complaints at all about this system. Even taking it down the one time to replace the battery was a good thing, this gave us a chance to do too things, clean it real good and move it to a new location farther away from trees that had gotten bigger. I recommend this weather station for anyone who wants to have all the basic weather information.

One of the best I have found for the money that WORKS VERY WELL!
I have had 3 other brands and this is the best unit I have found that WORKS very well. I will; say it is a very good unit, has the best display and the just over 2 seconds that it transmits to the screen display is a BIG improvement over all of the others. I have this one now for about 3 weeks it is on target for all readings. I need a working unit since I live on the water in New York, so it has to work for me. Look at other sights other than Ebay I have found it for less;that is why I gave it a NO for value. Hope that this has helped you.
