|Based on a true story, this unusual story follows African-American high-school teacher Kenny Williams (James McDaniel) as he takes a job at a school on the Three Nations Reservation in Utah. When he reluctantly becomes the coach of the girls' basketball team, the expected culture clashes and growing pains result, but poignant performances and a character-driven narrative are the true strength of the film.|

Edge of America
I teach high school on the Winnebago Indian Reservation in Nebraska, and my students told me about this movie. It's an interesting story about an African-American basketball coach and his female Native-American team. It sounded familiar to me, as I had recorded the NPR documentary "Lady Chiefs" a number of years prior. It appears to me to be loosely based on said documentary, although the ending is different. If you enjoy films with a Native-American slant, you'll likely enjoy this one as well. It's not in the same league as "Smoke Signals", but it's not too far off. I suppose the fact that both of these movies shared the same producer doesn't hurt. Marc LaDue
Great girls basketball movie (powerful)
I thought it was a great girls basketball movie, One for people with girls that play basketball for sure. About a Black Teacher coaching the girls basketball team at a Indian Reservation. And yes they suck , until he pulls them together. Filmed in Utah.
Edge of America excellent cultural movie!!!!
Edge of America is a good well written & acted movie it touches on alot of cultural differences & similarities the two come to embrace,I wish more movies would on these subjects with skill in the case of E.O.A.
very good movie, witty, comical
I liked the native american cast. the plot identified with life, attitudes, and the general atmosphere of native people. i would recommend this movie for everyone, native or not. jj
I liked the way the storyline was it was great how the team came together in the end. The fact it was about native americans was even better. I'm Cherokee and it's always good to see members of my tribe in movies.
