An Ok Time-waster
Book is alright, characters are nearly one-dimensional and the action is pretty static. It could easily have been as a slasher story with minimal rewriting to remove the supernatural/SF elements. That said it moves along breezily enough so that it doesn’t overstay its welcome. And the ending is really well done. Part of the problem is that the ending is where the sci-fi elements are really required, but these elements are poorly realized in the lead-up, and are simply explained by characters second-hand who are really just guessing themselves and should have no idea. Anyway, silly book, lots of holes, but good for some mindless entertainment.
