| THE MONEY PIT: An updating of MR. BLANDINGS BUILDS HIS DREAM HOUSE in which an up-and-coming entertainment lawyer takes the big step with his girlfriend and purchases a fixer-upper for a "steal." As it turns out, the "steal" is really a "rip-off" and everything that can go wrong, does.THE 'BURBS: Set in an average neighborhood that is anything but average, Tom Hanks portrays suburbanite Ray Peterson, who finally takes a much-needed week of vacation. However, Ray doesn't use the time to jet off to some exotic locale, there are no frolicsome adventures in his plans, all he wants is a week of mindless relaxation in his own comfortable suburban home. His wife Carol (Carrie Fisher) warns him that he's liable to go crazy from the boredom, but he refuses to listen. The nothingness finally does get to him, however, and he creates a little excitement for himself by spying on his neighbors - the Klopeks, a mysterious, oddball family that just moved in to a dilapidated home down the street. When the neighborhood grouch mysteriously disappears, Ray and a motley crew of other neighborhood crackpots begin to concoct wild theories about the strange, and perhaps murderous, goings on in the Klopek's creepy, old house. For one brief, shining moment their lives seem to have some meaning and purpose as Ray and his friends become consumed with the secrets of the bizarre family. Tom Hanks is hysterical as Ray, bring his own brand of boyish charm and zany slapstick comedy to the screen.DRAGNET: A seemingly squeaky clean television reverend and a porno magazine king are suspected of operating a crime-ridden cult. One of our all time favorites in one convenient case! This is a great set, for an amazing price! People from young to old will love watching The Money Pit, I have seen it at least 10 times, and I'm happy to share this classic with my children, tons of laughs, beginning to end. The Burbs, watched this as a child, and this was the first movie that I can honestly say, had me scared to death one minute, and laughing the next, who ever wrote this, was a genius! Dragnet... That's all you need to say, and if you have seen it before, you will understand, how just this movie alone, would pay for this set alone!
Some slapstick comedy interlaced with deadpan humor makes an enjoyable Tom Hanks binge !
Movies are on 2 disks, 1 movie on 1st one 2 on second. Wish could be on 3 disks OR 1 disk altogether (but realize there may not be enough data space) Otherwise great.
