I recently began shopping for new men's fragrances again. I came across John Varvatos in a local department store where I could spray a card to see how its initial notes differed from its mid-term notes. Next, I wanted to test it out to see how it would wear for me but I didn't want to buy a whole 4.2 oz bottle just to sample it. This is my second sample bottle and I have decided to use it as one of my "signature" scents. I find it to be a scent that accents a mature gentleman. I even asked one of the younger ladies (her 29 yrs to my 59 yrs) at work her opinion of the scent. She thought it "fit" the persona of an older guy who cleans up pretty good. She indicated she would be comfortable being in a social setting with me wearing this scent. She said the scent gave her a sense of ... I recently began shopping for new men's fragrances again. She said if she had smelled some "club" scent on me she would wonder if I was trying to regain my youth vicariously through trying to use it to entice or "pick" her up. She said then I would look the fool and I agreed! She thought this a good scent for evening or night wear. She thought a lighter scent would work better during the day. I'm still looking for that one. She also thought it might be easy to over-apply and suggested the wearer would do well to follow the sage advice attributed to the "Most Interesting Man In The World" from the Dos Equis commercials... "Cologne should never linger longer than the man who wears it!" Get a small bottle and give it a try!

Too woodsy prefer the John Varvatos over the Vintage.
The product was actually John Varvatos Vintage and not the cologne pictured. I bought the product for my husband as the item pictured is his favorite cologne. He liked the Vintage cologne but we both prefer the colonge John Varvatos that was pictured over the Vintage cologne.
