Miles was RIGHT on the money!
The immortal Tony Williams, whom Miles Davis called "the baddest Mo' Fo' on the drums he ever heard, spreads the proto Jazz Rock fusion wings and tears it up. Allan Holdsworth, a guitar whom many pickers revere, loved Tony because he gave him the freedom to write his solos as Allan saw fit, Allan, to this day, plays homage to Tony by covering a few of the classics, such as 'Red Alert" and "Proto-cosmo" at his shows.A killer!
Fantastic Drummer Tony Williams
If you wish Herbie Hancock and crew had done a few more tunes like Vein Melter and Butterfly grab this CD for a couple more..Tony Williams makes the drums more like an instrument, not just a perfect timepiece....Heard this at a break in NYC at 55 Bar...True Fusion. Distinctive frantic virtuosity. Doubt you have heard anything like it..Futurist sounds pushing the boundries between Jazz and Rock, with a few Funk tracks to bring it back to Earth. Energy with a capital E. Weird breaks and changes and sudden melodies. Try it you WILL like it...
