|Sub-Genre:||Basketball||Game Name:||NBA Jam: Tournament Edition|
|Play the exciting basketball game that smashed arcade records in the comfort of your own home with NBA Jam Tournament Edition for Sega Genesis. Using real NBA players and teams, this game is full of turbo-charged sports action and the trademark dunks and On Fire gameplay that made this game a huge hit. All that separates you from a flaming Clyde Drexler slam is the quick push of a button. NBA Jam Tournament edition also adds new features, players, and power-ups, which make this the definitive version of this brilliant franchise. In 1995, NBA Jam Tournament Edition was released for Sega Genesis. This game uses real NBA basketball players and rosters from the 1994-95 NBA season. The primary game mode is 2-on-2 basketball, and players can play either against each other, or on the same team against the computer AI. The tournament edition version of the game adds some new elements, including new players and a team made from rookies that joined the league in the 1994 NBA Draft. NBA Jam Tournament Edition adds a turbo element to the game, which allows the player to push and hold a button for a speed boost. This version of the game also adds power-ups, which allow the players to make half-court dunks or achieve On Fire status immediately rather than having to make three consecutive shots. Being on fire makes it easier for your players to sink shots, and gives you unlimited turbo. The game also adds hot spots, which are temporary locations on the court that give the player more points for a basket made from that spot. There’s also a Tournament Mode, which challenges the player to beat all 27 teams. The Genesis cartridge contains a special battery in side of the cartridge that allows you to save your progress. This game is also compatible with Sega Genesis consoles with the Sega CD add-on. This game is, however, a cartridge. All of that comes with the standard high-flying game play that NBA Jam fans have come to expect. The draw of the 2-on-2 games are the crazy, inventive dunks and long-range three-point shooting, and all of that is included here. The game play also features a lack of enforced fouls, which means you can knock down your opponents and steal the ball at any time. Beware, however, because they can also do the same to you. The original NBA Jam arcade game was released in 1993 by Midway Entertainment and quickly acquired a huge playerbase, and by early 1994, the Amusement and Music Operators Association stated that NBA Jam had already become the highest-earning arcade game of all time. Iguana Entertainment, which would later become Acclaim Studios Austin, handled the porting, or converting, of the game to the popular home consoles of the time, such as Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo (SNES).|

This game rocks!
First off, this game is for players of all levels. You can jump in and start having fun from moment one, but for the avid gamer there is enough technical play to keep you coming back for more. The only drawback is that the game seems to favor the loser to keep the score close. Not a big deal, but when your opponent ties it up with a buzzer-beating, under-hand, full court shot, it can really chap your hide ;) I bought this game for a classic video game tournament that I participate in with my old high school football team, organized by our coach. We also play Tecmo Super Bowl and NHLPA Hockey '93. With 6 players this year and a round-robin structure, it was 9 hours of continuous game play... my poor thumb!
Great classic game!
This product plays great on Sega emulators and original genesis. Will not work on at games Sega HD. This is the only game I have that doesn’t work on that system. It works great on my Sega emulator just like back in the day.

A timeless classic.
I recently dug up my old Sega Genesis and half my games were missing.(during my move I suppose) This was one game I knew I had to get. It is still challenging after all these years. I love the expanded roster feature that unlocks after beating all 27 teams. I love the challenge of beating a team on extra hard and computer assistance turned on. I also enjoy playing with the secret characters, Some of them can really torch up the opposition. I just wish players like Charles Barkley, Larry Bird, And Micheal Jordan, Were in the game, That to me is the games only flaw. Compared to the games of today this game is nothing, But for it's time it is one of those few that changed the face of the video game industry.
HE'S ON FIRE! The BEST basketball game of its time!
I used to go to the arcade everyday to play this game. I would pump quarter after quarter into the arcade machine just to play the 2nd half! Granted this was back when games were just a quarter to play, and Mortal Kombat 2 was in the cabinet right next to the NBA Jam machine, I just couldn't get enough of it. Famous lines such as "He's warming up" & "He's on fire!" will stick in your head throughout the rest of your gaming lives. I have never had so much fun playing basketball, whether it was against the computer or a real person. I practiced this game for a competition that Blockbuster had during the mid-90s, and I practically mastered it. This is a very fun game, and if you are looking for an inexpensive sports game for an older system, this is probably the best one you can pick up. Prior to this series, there was Double Dribble, but this series blew that one off the face of the gaming map! You might even be able to pick up this title for less than $1 on eBay, so do yourself a favor and try it out if you never have. The main difference between this game and its predecessor is the ability to create and save a play record! There are also minor tweaks that the game developers incorporated, but it is essentially just the same game. If you want a good laugh, choose the Rookies and when you start your game, see how the announcer introduces your team :D This alone is worth picking up the game!
