This game is awesome. It's kind of like a vertical shooting game, but not really. If you've never seen it, you control a paperboy (hence the title) as he pedals his bike down his paper route, throwing newspapers onto his subscribers' doorsteps (or if you're skillful, into their mailboxes). This is much more difficult than it sounds, because not only is the perspective at a 45-degree angle, but just about everything in the neighborhood is out to get you! From dogs and skateboarders to tornadoes and even the grim reaper himself, nothing deters the paperboy from delivering the news. Your goal is to place a paper on each of your subscribers' doorstops without breaking any of their windows or missing. If you mess up, they'll cancel their subscriptions and become hostile houses; if you do a perfect round, one non-subscriber will subscribe to your paper. Breaking the windows of non-subscribers' houses will give you bonus points, and at the end of your paper route is a bonus training round! You must avoid losing all your subscribers or all of your lives for seven days in order to beat the game. This game is notorious for its difficulty, but it is tremendously fun. It has great sound effects for the NES, and the music is great. The graphics aren't the best, which sometimes makes it difficult to know where you can drive your bike without crashing, but that's part of what makes winning more satisfying. I love this game, and it's pretty cheap nowadays, so why not try it out? Or at least look it up on youtube!
