Excellent Console Choice.
I love the sleek design of this console. The games that have been released for the Wii U that I've actually played are all well designed and fun. I also like that the console is backwards compatible with Wii games. Some games offer the option of using the game pad or Wii U Pro controllers, which is a nice feature. Some games require the Wii Motion Plus Controllers, which neither these or the Pro controllers come with the console, and they are kind of pricey. My only real complaint is that the console doesn't offer a wired Ethernet option, but if you have a solid wireless connection, it's not bad. I've never had any issues with it dropping the wireless connection. As with any newer console, sometimes the game updates take a while to install, but with faster internet speeds, it's not too bad. Overall, I love this console and enjoy it very much and highly recommend it!

I always wanted to get the first gen Wii system but never got around to do so. But now after getting the Wii U I must say, it's awesome. My son and I love it. It's been a long time since I played Mario kart and its been a blast. The graphics are awesome, the games are so much fun. The best part is the Wii U is backwards compatible. This means we can play all of the Wii games on the Wii U. But you need to get the Wii remotes to play the old games. I would recommend getting the Wii U plus remotes so you can use them with both old and new games. I also purchased Splatoon for the Wii U and both my son and I love that game. The graphics are awesome and the game is lots of fun. So far, the system is working great. Looking forward to playing some more Mario games.

correcting some errors in other reviews:
straight features here: It supports wired ethernet using the wii usb ethernet adapter. Its true it doesn't come with wii controllers, but if you are getting this as a wii upgrade, you have them anyway. Most games for the wiiu don't require them but some can support them. Games such as Smash Brothers or Mario Kart support any controller you can connect (SB supports 8 players) and you would have to buy more controllers anyway to get more players. Just Dance however supports up to six players through use of cell phones? Mario Party 10 supports 5. You get the idea. Some games use the controller as a pda or minimap or what-have-you. It's capable of putting out different video and audio from the television and it's leveraged very well in games such as Lego City Undercover. I also have Lego Dimensions and it's flawless on this system and so it BOTW. To be honest, you really need a usb drive to store games on though if you have more than a few downloaded, as even disc games can fill it up with patches. I have a one tb drive and there are no problems. Be aware though that if you unhook and then reattach it you lose all sorting of icons.
