Olympus 720 Ultra Zoom--Lots of camera , small package
I first used a 720 UZ about 12 years ago to take geological site photos and sample photos and was immediately impressed with its quality and versatility, as well as its ruggedness (we beat the dickens out of them). The Olympus 720 UZ takes photos up to 1984 x 1488 (3 megapixel), has excellent optics, a wide zoom range, and takes good macro close ups as well. It also has a plentiful variety of user selectable options with regard to shutter, ISO film speed, white balance, aperture, and so forth as well as having a point-and-shoot auto setting. The viewfinder is electronic but has good resolution, shows several different kinds of setting info, and has target brackets for the autofocus and exposure sensor (oh, yes, it has AE lock). It takes 4 AA batteries, nothing weird. All that said, it has a few kinks I don't like. The lens isn't threaded for filters, so you're stuck with the lens cap for protection. All user controls are "fly-by-wire" and most go through a menu. There's no manual focus, it's all auto. It won't take SD memory cards. The original street price back in 2002 was in the $600 range. I got one on eBay recently as a backup to my DSLR for around forty bucks, and despite some wear, it still works like new. This type of camera is a bargain for shooting quality pictures for electronic publication, especially on the Internet, where max resolution is not usually an issue.
Olympus C-720 Ultra Zoom Digital Camera
This is an excellent camera for,day to day, practical use. I received my first one well over a decade ago and it is still in use today. While on vacation I dropped it down the tour bus steps onto the blacktop. I thought, for sure, that it was all over right there, but the camera had no more than a few scratches and continued to work perfectly. Picture quality is very good and the camera is relatively easy to use, meaning that you don't have to carry the manual around so that you can remember how it works. I have purchased two more used ones over the years as they are economical. I do have other digital cameras, but find that these are the ones that I tend to use most of the time. If there is a failing it would be that the plastic latches are not made as sturdily as they might be, but it is easy enough to just put a little piece of tape on the small access doors if they fail.

It is a nice older digital camera for aftermarket price.
I was looking to save some money while getting quality photograph for now, this camera will do the job. Great for website where 3.0 MP is more than enough and it can be done professionally with lens adapter that are still around cheap enough. It is a older digital camera that uses more power, older memory card, etc. that I don't mind for a low cost.
