    Panasonic DMR-T3040 is a great find

    Panasonic offered a couple different hard disk/DVD recorders that had some interesting features. The unit allows quick retrieval of program segments and management of DVD authoring. Although the options are minimal, they are adequate for basic production uses. The unit offers a cost effective way to transfer information in a basic format. Menu options tend to be somewhat confusing. It's a great little unit for either your home or small production suite.

    Panasonic DMR-T3040 Review

    Even thought the DMR T-3040 is over 12 Years old and has no HDMI, this is a very good unit. I use this unit to record off the cable box to the unit's hard drive. If I like what I recorded, I than dub the video to a DVD. The only disadvantage to this unit is the hard drive capacity, only about 18 hours in the SP mode. By recording from the cable box using the S-video jack and playing back on my Hi Def TV using the 3 component output jacks, the playback image is very good.
